Church Lighting System Upgrade, Warwickshire July 2025 (Client Since 1988)

Brief

AJ Electrics (Coleshill) Ltd has proudly supported St Peter and St Paul Church in Coleshill with electrical work since 1988. Over the decades, we’ve helped maintain and modernise the church’s systems while respecting its historic character.

In 1998, we carried out a major upgrade to the church’s lighting, replacing outdated 150W pendant fittings with a combination of 150W Ceramic Metal Halide fittings for general lighting and 60W Tungsten fittings for feature lighting. This provided a significant improvement in light levels and system reliability.

Specification

By 2023, however, the technology had become outdated and it became clear that the church lighting system needed another upgrade. Replacement lamps were increasingly difficult to source and expensive.

We were asked to design a modern lighting solution using the latest low-energy LED technology.
Our design also included a full lighting control system, offering dimmable, programmable lighting scenes for church services, concerts, and special events

Result

Faculty approval was granted in early 2025, and the new church lighting system upgrade was installed and commissioned in July 2025.

The result is a brighter, more energy-efficient, and easy-to-operate lighting system.

The original 150W fittings were replaced with just 37W LED lights, offering significant energy savings while greatly enhancing the lighting quality throughout the church.
