Polesworth Abbey Interior Church Lighting Tamworth Staffs Brief:
To improve the interior church lighting of their 12th Century-listed Abbey Church with an energy-efficient fully controllable lighting system to meet the needs of the congregation.
The existing lighting was a mix of metal halide, sodium and tungsten spotlights operated by grid switches.
As a listed building, we needed to factor this into our recommendations.
Having discussed the needs of Polesworth Abbey Interior Church Lighting Tamworth, we arranged a visit for the PCC to one of our completed Church lighting projects and prepared a full design and costing complete with lighting calculations.
As part of the Interior Church Lighting spec, we specified a UK-manufactured LED light fitting with up to 135 lumen per watt output for the main general and feature lighting.
The PCC were very keen to have the option of colour change lighting for the East Window and Nave Window Reveals. We were able to achieve this with RGBW fittings complete with 10° x 60° optics to give a very flat wide beam, eliminating spill light.
A lighting control system was specified to give full dimming and scene setting, together with a tablet interface allowing custom scenes to be created for one off events.
The result for the Polesworth Abbey Interior Church Lighting Tamworth project was more even lighting throughout the building, with features highlighted, and better colour rendering bringing out the warmth of the stone.
