The church decided to update the system to improve energy efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance the atmosphere while preserving the original lighting effect.

Upgrade General Lighting: Replace old metal halide lamps and control gear with efficient, modern options.

Enhance Feature Lighting: Add LED fixtures replacing obsolete tungsten lights, to
highlight key architectural features like the altar and sanctuary roof.

Consistent Lighting: Maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere with a 3000°K colour
temperature.

Challenges

Preserving Aesthetics: The church wanted to keep the look of the original metal halide fixtures while upgrading and enhance the feature lighting.

Solution

The church adopted a hybrid approach:

Upgraded Metal Halide Fixtures: Replaced lamps and control gear with energy-efficient versions while keeping the original fixtures.

LED Feature Lighting: Installed new LED fittings to highlight key architectural elements, with a fixed 3000K colour temperature for consistency.

 

Implementation

The upgrade was completed in 4 days, in two stages:

Stage 1: Replaced metal halide lamps and control gear.

Stage 2: Installed new LED feature lighting to enhance key areas.
