Looking for Church LED Conversions?
We have been supporting Churches and other communal organisations with their lighting for over 30 years and now specialise in LED Church Lighting.
AJ Electrics have the skills and experience to help every place of worship navigate the new Church LED lighting requirements coming into place, including the current phase out of less sustainable lamps.
Halogen lamps were phased out in September 2021, except for Bi Pin reflector lamps such as MR16 and AR111 and from the 1st September 2023 the Bi Pin reflector lamps will also be phased out, together with fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lamps.
This means that we all need to start switching to LED Lighting in some way as available stocks will eventually come to an end, including our Churches and other places of worship.
Depending on the lighting being replaced, we are seeing energy saving between 50 and 80% for Church lighting installations and a significant reduction in maintenance costs. (AR111 lamps had an average lamp life of 3000 hours whereas an LED replacement will give 15 to 20000 hours).
Yes, but only from existing stocks and for lamps such as AR111 the narrower beam widths are already out of stock.
In some cases, yes, particularly recessed ceiling lights, LED alternative lamps are available. In some circumstances the transformer for the light fitting might need replacing.
There is actually strong evidence and research that show the low EV emissions from LED Lighting is better for protecting artefacts and fabrics. As opposed to the high-intensity charge of Halogen lamps, LED Lighting in your church will preserve the colours and patina of your architectural features, such as the ceiling, and historical items for much longer. The gentler emissions will also reduce wear-and-tear of carpets, window coverings and painted surfaces which will also reduce maintenance costs, whilst keeping the luxury design of your church and its architecture.
If you are responsible for Church Lighting, we understand that this the shift may seem like a mammoth task; that’s why we are here, to guide you and make the LED swap over as seamless and cost-effective as possible.
Yes, of course, in some instances it may be as simple as switching lamps. If you are used to managing a Church though we’re sure you will know that nothing in listed buildings is usually that simple! Switching ‘like-for-like’ may not totally give you the saving or light levels you’d like or expect. That is because the design of the lighting system isn’t always optimised to give you the best energy-saving or lighting results.
Working with a specialist, like AJ Electrics, you have the opportunity to make the most of all of the benefits LED Lighting has to offer for your Church or Place of Worship. Lighting controls are a really good way of saving resources and money and we can advise on an appropriate system.
We look forward to hearing from you.
LED Lighting can also help to protect, and preserve, your fragile fabrics and materials which will save you even more money restoring or replacing in the future.
